چکیده

Anisotropic models are recognized as a more realistic representation of the subsurface where complex geological environment exists. These models are widely needed by all kinds of migration and interpretation schemes. However, anisotropic model building is still a challenging problem in the industry. In this paper, we propose an approach to building anisotropic models from surface seismic data based on the theory of WaveEquation Migration Velocity Analysis (WEMVA). Because of the ambiguity between depth and δ , we parametrize our model space using only NMO velocity (Vnmo) and the anellipticity parameter η . We present a synthetic data example of anisotropic WEMVA applied to the shallow part of the Hess anisotropic synthetic VTI model. The results show that anisotropic WEMVA is effective in resolving the anisotropic perturbation; however, a unique solution to the inversion requires additional constraining information.

Velocity Modeling in a Vertical Transversely Isotropic Medium Using Zelt Method

In the present paper, the Zelt algorithm has been extended for ray tracing through an anisotropic model. In anisotropic media, the direction of the propagated energy generally differs from that of the plane-wave propagation. This makes velocity values to be varied in different directions. Therefore, velocity modeling in such media is completely different from that in an isotropic media. The vel...

Analysis of Plane Waves in Anisotropic Magneto-Piezothermoelastic Diffusive Body with Fractional Order Derivative

In this paper the propagation of harmonic plane waves in a homogeneous anisotropic magneto-piezothermoelastic diffusive body with fractional order derivative is studied. The governing equations for a homogeneous transversely isotropic body in the context of the theory of thermoelasticity with diffusion given by Sherief et al. [1] are considered as a special case. It is found that three types of...

Explicit expressions for prestack map time migration in isotropic and VTI media and the applicability of map depth migration in heterogeneous anisotropic media

We present 3D prestack map time migration in closed form for qP-, qSV-, and mode-converted waves in homogeneous transversely isotropic media with a vertical symmetry axis (VTI). As far as prestack time demigration is concerned, we present closed-form expressions for mapping in homogeneous isotropic media, while for homogeneous VTI media we present a system of four nonlinear equations with four ...

TTI Anisotropic Depth Migration: Which Tilt Estimate Should We Use?

Summary We perform a series of numerical modelling and migration experiment with different homogeneous TTI anisotropic media, characterized by tilt axis, polar velocity and anisotropy parameters. In the case of structurally conformable media, where the tilt of the medium coincides with the dip of the structure, great simplifications arise in the decoupling of the anisotropy parameters. In parti...

Prestack Kirchhoff time migration for complex media

Constructing the seismic image in vertical time, as opposed to depth, eliminates the inherent ambiguity of resolving the vertical P -wave velocity from surface seismic data in transversely isotropic media with a vertical axis of symmetry (VTI media). By ray tracing in the space-time (x-τ)-domain, a traveltime map is built by interpolating the traveltime information along the rays onto a regular...
